Minimalist Single Family House by Alessandro Bulletti

Italian based architects Alessandro Bulletti has design a minimalist house in Deruta-Italy with a magnificent view over the Valley of the Tiber. The complex topography of the setting determined the basic choices that define the character of the building’s layout. The project consists essentially in the constructions of a horizontal plane, defined by a sandstone plinth which crops out of the ground and emphasizes the morphological features of the location by contrast. From the outside, this slope house plan is totally immersed in nature, overlooking the deep valley at its feet.

The glazed upper level opens onto a terrace and a magnificent Italian countryside view. At ground level, an outdoor entertaining area echoes the same striking sandstone that makes the base, with a pool and platform stretching southward over the olive groves. Interiors carry that same strong sense of nature, with expansive windows on both the main and upper level, which are finished with continuous sandstone floors. The house offers different ways of experiencing the relationship with the surrounding landscape: on the lower floor the landscape is contemplated through the frame of the loggia which opens onto the terrace below, while on the upper floor nature pervades the whole space.
