Rantila Residence was design by senior associate Freelon Group, Michael Rantila. The design concept of this confidential house literally springs up from the pristine wooded place. Unbuildable as a spec house possessions, the unique shape of the building is a factual response to the important place challenges. Wedged flanked by zoning setbacks, a watercourse shock absorber and a sheer grade , the agenda massing was squeezed vertically into a three tale system elevated on top of the uninterrupted earth airplane flowing under . Every ground height is expressed as a discrete rectangular quantity clad in a dissimilar fabric and spun radially from a 40 foot high, 18 inch broad hard real shear partition.
This expression of the volumes creates a broad diversity of habitable outdoor spaces. The lowest height ultimately spills onto a big teak hit under the home, which after that engages the woods by means of a stepped real pyramid.
This roadside community countenance has small fenestration in difference to the all-glass confidential surface, which takes advantage of views facing the woods, the watercourse and disperse northern glow. Every one major specimen trees, primarily pine and sweetgum, were saved owing to the dense vertical building footprint and lack of place re-grading. Exposed white metal hit ceilings let both the environmental sounds of rainfall and usual day to infuse the home.
