The Kerr Gulch Highlands House designed with organic modern style by Brian Ojala and Aaron Ojala with Entasis Group. This house situated at 2888 Highlands View Drive located on a pine-forested ridge in the foothills west of Denver. The home uses green design by natural solar orientation. Since the home it rotated 15 degrees counterclockwise, it receives natural sun light on all sides of the home even in the winter. The home uses evergreen trees for natural shading in the summer, hydronic radiant floor systems, reclaimed timbers throughout, photovoltaic adaptable roof design.
This home built with natural materials including massive thermal Slate walls, Cedar, Steel, and Glass combined to create a new expression of Colorado Modernism. The soaring timbered ceiling appears to float over expansive glass walls and an open and spacious floor plan. The home plan is a fractured layout which allows the natural settings come back into the home. From every point in the home, the viewer will experience the outside nature. – Photos by Brian Ojala and Teri Fotheringham
