This family Dwelling was designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter sited on the hillside, orientated south west over viewing forests, lakes and the fjord of Oslo. The topography is dramatic with a steep slope with inclination up to 60 degrees. The site is organized in terraces. The interaction between landscape and building is significant in the strategy of organizing the rooms indoor.
The house with rectangular plan has 2 levels plus a penthouse with a roof terrace. The upper main level contains entrance, sleeping spaces, atelier and garage. The bottom level is organized as one space which is organized in different zones using a room box, sliding doors and walls. This level has zones for different activities such cooking, eating, reading, socializing, sleeping and work. This space has two dark walls with concrete and two transparent elevations with glass walls.
All the levels are connected with a monolithic steel staircase in a three floor high space. The theme of the horizon is present in all the terraces both inside and outside. During certain weather conditions the client sometimes feels high above the sky. More information about this project please visit Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter official website.
